Prison Guard Slaying Brings $2.3M Verdict

SAN FRANCISCO - In a civil case that put on trial California's prison policy of allowing lethal force to break up inmate fights, a federal jury awarded $2.3 million in damages Monday to the widow and mother of inmate Mark Adams, who was killed by a San Quentin guard in 1994.
