An impending U.S. Supreme Court decision may open the prison cells of thousands of federal inmates, but some attorneys fear the court's ruling will open Pandora's box.

Last year, the high court struck down a federal law that imposed a 15 years to life sentence for possession of a firearm, carving off decades from the sentences of thousands of prisoners.
