Lawyers skeptical about Google age bias class action

Next month, U.S. District Judge Beth L. Freeman of San Jose is scheduled to hear oral arguments on a class certification motion filed by engineers who say Alphabet Inc.-owned Google did not hire them following interviews because they were too old.

From the "Silicon Valley" TV show to reports of tech workers nervously crowding plastic surgeons' offices, there's a public perception Silicon Valley companies may discriminate against older employees. Until now plaintiffs' attorneys have not tested these assumptions with a class action against one of Silicon Valley's legion of deep-pocketed corporations.
