6th District justice leaves the bench to become a county executive

Justice Miguel Márquez has resigned from the 6th District Court of Appeal and taken a new role as Santa Clara County's chief operating officer, the county announced Monday.

Justice Miguel Márquez has resigned from the 6th District Court of Appeal and taken a new role as Santa Clara County's chief operating officer, the county announced Monday.

The rare move from the bench to the county's executive office, in the same building where he previously worked as county counsel, comes just four years after Márquez first became a judge.
