Riverside Appeals Court Justice Retires

Barton C. Gaut, an associate justice with the 4th District Court of Appeal in Riverside, retired last week. In his 13 years on the six-justice panel, Gaut gained a reputation as a congenial, low-key justice who leveled pithy questions at attorneys during oral argument.

RIVERSIDE - Barton C. Gaut, an associate justice with the 4th District Court of Appeal in Riverside, has retired.

Gaut, who plans to return to the appellate court on assignment from time to time, left the bench Friday.
