Patient Privacy

Late last month, the Department of Health and Human Services issued new federal regulations intended to protect the privacy of personal health information. The new privacy rule restricts the use and disclosure of health information, creates new health-information rights and requires health care providers, insurers and others to implement new policies and procedures to protect the privacy of their patients and customers.
