O'Melveny & Myers: HEARME SCORES $20 MILLION IN SALE OF ONLINE GAME SITE
GameSpy Industries Inc. will buy the HearMe Web site, Mplayer. The cash, promissory note and stock deal is valued at $20 million. Irvine's GameSpy, a privately held online gaming company, develops software and operates Web sites catering to the international gaming community. Working with game publishers such as Fox Interactive and console manufacturers like Sega Dreamcast, it allows gamers to chat and play online games with one another.
