Brobeck Phleger: BROADCOM PAYS $1.7 BILLION IN A DEAL WITH SERVERWORKS

Broadcom Corp. has agreed to acquire ServerWorks Corp. in a deal valued at $1.74 billion. Irvine's Broadcom makes integrated circuits for a variety of markets, including cable set-top boxes, cable modems, digital subscriber line technology, satellite and terrestrial broadcasting, home networking and wireless communications. Motorola Inc., 3Com Corp., Samsung Corp. and Cisco Systems Inc. are customers.
