California refuses to turn over death penalty drug to FDA

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is refusing a request by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to turn over a key drug in its so-called lethal injection "cocktail."

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is refusing a request by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to turn over a key drug in its so-called lethal injection "cocktail."


In a May 1 letter, the general counsel for CDCR wrote that the agency "is unable to acquiesce to the FDA's request."
