Brown names 17 to the bench, including two for appeals courts
Gov. Jerry Brown appointed 17 judges on Friday, filling vacancies on the 4th and 6th District Courts of Appeal as well as eight openings on Los Angeles County Superior Court. The batch included some notable firsts.

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Jerry Brown appointed 17 judges on Friday, filling vacancies on the 4th and 6th District Courts of Appeal as well as eight openings on the bench of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The appointments are only the second batch of judicial nominations the governor has made since taking office. In December, he named 14 people to the bench.
