Poochigian Confirmed to Court

Despite controversy, former Sen. Charles Poochigian was confirmed Thursday to a seat on the 5th District Court of Appeal.

SAN FRANCISCO - Despite controversy over his lack of judicial experience and accusations of an anti-gay bias, former state Sen. Charles "Chuck" Poochigian was confirmed Thursday to the 5th District Court of Appeal.

During a two-hour hearing, the Commission on Judicial Appointments criticized the State Bar's judge-vetting organization for giving Poochigian a "not qualified" rating.
