Judicial branch proposal aims to improve interpreter services in courts across state

The multiyear proposal, put out by a group of judges and other stakeholders at the behest of branch leadership, is undergoing a comment period ending Sept. 29.

SACRAMENTO - In late 2010, Joann Lee of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles filed a complaint with the Department of Justice. She wrote that the nonprofit's minority clients weren't able to get language interpretation in civil matters and so couldn't get a fair legal shake.
