Regulator changes playing field for McDonald's in labor relations fights

Plaintiffs' attorneys cheered an announcement that the general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board will treat McDonald's USA LLC as an employer to all its burger flippers, even the ones who work in franchise restaurants.

Plaintiffs' attorneys cheered an announcement that the general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board will treat McDonald's as an employer to all its burger flippers, even the ones who work in franchise restaurants. Richard F. Griffin, the board's general counsel, made the determination Tuesday that McDonald's USA LLC is liable for labor practices at all restaurants bearing its name.
