Lawyer for OC killer asks state court to rule death penalty unconstitutional

The motion in the case of Scott Eugene Dekraai, who murdered eight people and injuring another during a 2011 shooting at a Seal Beach beauty salon, may be the first to rely on a recent landmark decision in federal court.

SANTA ANA - Citing a federal judge's landmark ruling last week, the public defender representing the worst mass-killer in Orange County history is asking a state judge to agree that California's death penalty is unconstitutional.


The killer, Scott Eugene Dekraai, has already pleaded guilty to murdering eight people and injuring another during a 2011 shooting at a Seal Beach beauty salon...
