James R. Lambden

After retiring from the state appellate court bench, James R. Lambden joined ADR Services Inc., handling consulting work in addition to mediations and arbitrations.

SAN FRANCISCO - James R. Lambden likes to paint, but his hobby occasionally comes with a morbid side effect. Two of his cats have died since he painted their portraits.


Although there is no causal link, he is holding off on painting Phoebe, his 18-year-old cat, because she is "infirm."


"It could be a curse," Lambden said of his pastime.
