State Supreme Court nominee Goodwin Liu's confirmation hearing has been set for 3 p.m. on Aug. 31, the court announced Wednesday.
Gov. Jerry Brown tapped the UC Berkeley law professor, whose earlier nomination to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was blocked by Senate Republicans, to fill the vacancy created when Justice Carlos R. Moreno stepped down in February.
