Gov. Jerry Brown has tapped UC Berkeley law professor Goodwin Liu for the state Supreme Court.
Liu, 40, had been President Barack Obama's choice for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, but withdrew his name two months ago after being blocked by Senate Republicans.
