Council OKs deep cuts to courts

Saying there was no easy way to spread the pain of $350 million in state budget cuts this year, the Judicial Council voted Friday to cut trial court funding by 6.8 percent this year.

SAN FRANCISCO - Saying there was no easy way to spread the pain of $350 million in state budget cuts this year, the Judicial Council voted Friday to cut trial court funding by 6.8 percent this year.


Before the vote, judges and court employees from across the state implored the council to spare trial courts, which they argued are crucial to access to justice.
