Judge's work stretched beyond the bench

Week days, lawyers addressed James P. Marion as "your honor." On weekends, the Orange County Superior Court judge with the big heart was just "dishwasher Jim."

On weekdays, lawyers addressed James P. Marion as "your honor." On weekends, the Orange County Superior Court judge with the big heart was just "dishwasher Jim."


Every Sunday at 6:30 a.m. sharp, Marion and his wife, Gail, would arrive at a Santa Ana community center to help feed the homeless. She would cook; he would tackle clean-up duties.
