Epson Case Puts Defense Firm in Bind

Akin Gump has hit an unexpected stumbling block after switching hats to try out plaintiffs' side consumer fraud class action litigation against Epson America Inc.

LOS ANGELES - When Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP filed a federal class action alleging Epson America Inc. ripped off customers with inefficient printer cartridges, it took an unusual risk for a major corporate defense firm.


Now, Akin and its partner law firm Yuhl Stoner Carr LLP have hit an unexpected stumbling block that could end the foray into plaintiffs' side consumer litigation.
