Uptick in Small Law Firm Mergers

Legal consultancy Altman Weil released a report Wednesday saying the number of law firm mergers and acquisitions has picked up nationwide in the second quarter, but the majority of them have been small.

The number of merging law firms increased nationwide in the second quarter, but most had fewer than 20 lawyers, according to a report released Wednesday by legal consultancy Altman Weil.


Twelve mergers and acquisitions took place between April and June, compared to 14 reported in the first quarter, which is usually busy. Two additional mergers have been reported since the beginning of July.
