Court Halts Costa Mesa Layoffs

Orange County Superior Court Judge Tam Nomoto Schumann halted layoffs by Costa Mesa, saying the city failed to follow proper steps.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Tam Nomoto Schumann halted layoffs by Costa Mesa, saying the city failed to follow proper steps. The preliminary injunction may grant a temporary repreive to 213 workers in animal control, bookkeeping, city jails and other departments.Layoffs were slated to begin Sept. 30.
