Court Rules on Anna Nicole Smith Case

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday against the estate of deceased Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith in the marathon court fight over her dead husband's fortune.


The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday against the estate of deceased Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith in the marathon court fight over her dead husband's fortune.


The 5-4 decision, in which Justice Anthony M. Kennedy joined the court's conservatives, held that a bankruptcy court lacked constitutional authority to rule on a counterclaim that would have awarded Smith's estate $88 million, overturning the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
