Judge admits making inappropriate statements in court

Judge Gary G. Kreep, of San Diego County, said he refrained from making similar remarks and giving attorneys nicknames after being warned about his commentary by his superiors.

SAN DIEGO — Judge Gary G. Kreep testified Tuesday that early in his tenure he made inappropriate statements from the bench, including calling a deputy public defender "good looking."

The San Diego County Superior Court judge also told a Commission on Judicial Performance panel that he was wrong to give nicknames to attorneys appearing before him.
