Prosecutor Rose From Humble Origins

SAN DIEGO - Deputy District Attorney George T. Bennett, whose battle with cancer never got in the way of his work, including his successful prosecution earlier this year of a murdered San Diego attorney, has died. He was 59.

"His work ethic wouldn't let his health interfere," said David Hendren, a deputy district attorney and colleague of Bennett's.
