The U.S. Judicial Conference asked Congress to create 57 new judgeships in federal courts across the country, including 17 in California district courts and five for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The conference also called for 8 temporary judgeships to be converted to permanent roles. One of those temporary judgeships is in California.
