Lunchtime stare-down results in $435K payout

A sandwich shop stare-down resulted in $435,000 worth of Los Angeles Police Department liability on Thursday, when a jury found that a plainclothes detective on a lunch break falsified reports saying his life had been threatened by a construction worker at the deli, resulting in a malicious and ultimately unsuccessful felony prosecution.
