Trump budget would slash legal aid spending

A draft of President Donald J. Trump's first federal budget proposal that has been circulating in recent days has confirmed the fears of many in California's legal aid community.

A draft of President Donald J. Trump's first federal budget proposal that has been circulating in recent days confirmed the fears of many in California's legal aid community.

Trump apparently plans to eliminate the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). The program had a $385 million budget in the 2016 fiscal year, with $43.6 million going to grantees in California.
