Judge sides with hedge fund manager during jury deliberation

In an unusual move, a San Francisco Superior Court judge Thursday issued a directed verdict throwing out a $5.3 million claim brought against a hedge fund manager by a former employee who claimed to be a partner and co-owner of the business.

A San Francisco Superior Court judge Thursday threw out a $5.3 million claim brought against a hedge fund manager by a former employee who claimed to be a partner and co-owner of the business.


Issuing a directed verdict - a rare ruling given in place of a jury verdict - Judge Leslie C. Nichols sided with fund manager Harold Zlot of Access Management LLC and dismissed the jury.
