Judge, with Star Trek references, sanctions plaintiff's lawyers in porn copyright litigation

In his 11-page order, Judge Otis Wright said Prenda Law principals John Steele, Paul Hansmeier and Paul Duffy, along with the firm's local counsel Brett Gibbs, engaged in malicious and tenuous copyright litigation for pure profit.

LOS ANGELES - In an order brimming with enough Star Trek references to send the average Trekkie into a tizzy, a federal judge imposed a series of sanctions on plaintiffs' lawyers responsible for what the judge called "a porno-trolling collective," and notified them that he intends to pass information to authorities for a criminal investigation.
