$6.5 million Actos verdict overturned, expert testimony inadmissable

Asia's biggest drugmaker won an unexpected victory Tuesday when a judge overturned last week's ruling that its blockbuster diabetes drug caused a plaintiff's cancer. The ruling throws into question the outcome of 3,000 pending cases.

LOS ANGELES - Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., the maker of the diabetes medication Actos, does not have to pay the $6.5 million that a jury last week awarded to a cancer patient who sued the company over the drug, a state court ruled Tuesday.
