First case over Actos diabetes drug nets $6.5 million for plaintiffs

A Los Angeles jury ordered Asia's largest pharmaceutical company to hand over $6.5 million Friday to a plaintiff and his wife who claimed that the diabetes drug Actos caused his terminal bladder cancer.

LOS ANGELES - A jury ordered Asia's largest pharmaceutical company to hand over $5 million Friday to a plaintiff who claimed that the diabetes drug Actos caused terminal bladder cancer. The jury awarded the plaintiff's wife an additional $1.5 million.
