Latham & Watkins: SAFEWAY CHECKS OUT WITH GENUARDI'S FAMILY MARKETS

Supermarket chain Safeway Inc. will buy Genuardi's Family Markets for an undisclosed amount. Pleasanton's Safeway operates grocery stores nationwide under its name. It also owns regional supermarkets, including the Vons Companies in Southern California, Dominick's Supermarkets in Chicago, Carr-Gottstein Foods in Alaska, and Randall's Food Markets in Texas.
