Immigrants Could Leave Legal Limbo

LOS ANGELES - The Immigration and Naturalization Service has been called a lot of things, but Santa Claus isn't one of them. This year may be different. As a result of a proposed change in immigration law, potentially hundreds of thousands of immigrants living here illegally may be able to apply to adjust their status to legal resident without leaving the country.
