Fighting the Framers' Fight for Federalism
Apparently fearing further limitations on Congress' legislative reach, supporters of Vice President Al Gore have criticized George W. Bush for saying that he wants to appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices who think like Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Part of their criticism centers on the court's recent rulings limiting Congress' ability to legislate and "federalize" areas of law that have traditionally been left to the states.
