Employment lawyers cheer publication of attorney fee opinion
Lawyers from an advocacy group and a noted plaintiffs' law firm requested the opinion be published, saying it clarified important questions around attorney fees in class action settlements under state law.

Plaintiffs' attorneys celebrated the publication of a 2nd District Court of Appeal decision Friday that they say protects a key method for calculating attorney fees in class action settlements.
The opinion's publication flies in the face of arguments made by objecting class members that plaintiffs' attorneys can't request one-third of a settlement fund as their fees.
