Obama nominates Sacramento magistrate to vacant spot on federal bench
Just short of three years since a vacancy on the Eastern District of California court was announced, President Obama Wednesday nominated Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Dale A. Drozd as an Article III judge in Fresno.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday nominated Chief U.S. Magistrate Dale A. Drozd to fill a three-year-old Article III judge vacancy on the Eastern District of California.
Drozd, 59, has served as a magistrate in Sacramento since 1997.
