What to expect from Republican-controlled Senate
Now that Republicans have 54 seats in the Senate (failing in Virginia), what should Americans - many of whom with little interest in Washington - expect?

By the time most Americans went to sleep Nov. 4, they knew that both houses of the U.S. Congress were now in the hands of the Republican Party. At midnight, the number of confirmed Republican Senate seats stood at 52, with the possibility of the number climbing to 55. The potential three additional seats would come from races in Alaska and Virginia, which were yet to be called, and a runoff in the Louisiana race for the seat held by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D).
