RIVERSIDE - In shopping centers across the country, computer kiosks swallow used cell phones, mp3 players or tablets and spit out cash in return. San Diego-based ecoATM has 1,500 locations nationwide and scores in California, but its business model has come under scrutiny in some areas because of concerns about cell phone thefts and the potential for thieves to cash in quick.
