'Downer' Pigs Barred From Food Chain
A new state law banning sick or "downer" animals from entering the food supply can be enforced against the pork industry while farmers litigate against it, a federal appellate panel ruled Wednesday.

SAN FRANCISCO - A new state law banning sick or "downer" animals from entering the food supply can be enforced against the pork industry while farmers litigate against it, a federal appellate panel ruled Wednesday.
The decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a preliminary injunction stopping the enforcement of the law as it affected pig farmers.
