Appeals Courts Find Lawyers Engaged in Dodgy Litigation

LOS ANGELES - State appellate courts chastised two lawyers this week for unscrupulous litigation tactics. Los Angeles civil attorney Debra L. Koven was held in criminal contempt, fined $2,000 and referred by the 2nd District Court of Appeal to the State Bar for possible discipline. Koven avoided jail time because she apologized for accusing the justices of judicial misconduct. In re Koven 2005 DJDAR 13550.
