Wilson Sonsini: LOCAL SOFTWARE COMPANIES READY FOR $1 BILLION UNION

San Diego's Peregrine Systems Inc. has agreed to acquire Remedy Corp. of Mountain View in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $1.1 billion. Peregrine makes help-desk software, which assists businesses in handling computer network concerns and monitoring equipment costs. The company also makes software for infrastructure-resource planning, inventory tracking and procurement.
