LOS ANGELES - John E. Stockdale, a high-school dropout who grew up during the Depression, went to law school on the GI Bill and practiced insurance defense for 54 years, has died. He was 85.
Stockdale died Feb. 10 at UCLA Medical Center of complications related to age.
