SANTA CLARA - The Santa Clara City Council approved the inclusion of an initiative for the construction of a new stadium for the San Francisco 49ers on the June 8 ballot, reported The Associated Press. The ballot measure's language is opposed by some who say it fails to explain the $114 million of public contributions to the project, including redevelopment funds and an additional tax at city hotels. The initiative's wording says the construction would not require new taxes or general funds for the proposed $937 million stadium.
