SACRAMENTO - Through Feb. 12, the walls of the hallway between the governor's and lieutenant governor's offices in the Capitol will be adorned by 24 panels honoring the highest private engineering and land surveying achievements in the past year. "The projects receiving awards this year highlight some of the innovative and experienced approaches taken by private-sector companies to solve engineering challenges in both the private and public sectors in California," said Paul Meyer, executive director of the American Council of Engineering Companies-California. HDR received the most prestigious 2010 Engineering Excellence Golden State Award for its Gills Onions Advanced Energy Recovery System project, a facility that converts onion waste to power.
