Bill Lockyer Abandons 2006 Governor's Race

SACRAMENTO - Attorney General Bill Lockyer withdrew Thursday from the race for governor, saying he will run for state treasurer instead. The announcement spurred Sen. Joe Dunn, D-Santa Ana, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to drop out of the treasurer's race. He only recently had announced that he was withdrawing from the attorney general's race to run for treasurer.
