9th Circuit Won't Allow Parties To Create Appellate Jurisdiction

As the parties in one recent case discovered, it doesn't pay to manufacture appellate jurisdiction, because it results in not having the merits of the arguments heard at all. As the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals recently stated, "[a] party may not engage in manipulation either to create appellate jurisdiction or prevent it."
