Interior of new US courthouse revealed in LA

Those partial to the Art Deco style of the historic courthouse set to be vacated, with its rich mahogany paneling, colorful painted wall motifs and low lighting, will need time to adjust to the sparse decor of the new floating glass cube, which architects called their tribute to Euclidean geometric perfection.

LOS ANGELES — The interior of California's newest federal courthouse was unveiled Thursday at a well-attended opening ceremony.

Judges and politicians gathered in the newly-christened Courtroom One, which features painted portraits of 17 past chief judges — the room's sole decorative feature.
