State fire suit against Los Angeles to move forward

The state of California's lawsuit seeking to recover $4.2 million in costs related to the 2013 fire survived a demurrer hearing.

The state's lawsuit seeking more than $4 million from the city of Los Angeles over allegations it was negligent in causing a 2013 fire will continue after a judge denied the defendant's demurrer as to the state's sole cause of action, ruling that the city is not excluded as a "person" under California law.
