Chevron Loses, But Ecuador Can't Collect

Ecuadoreans have won an $8.6 billion judgment against Chevron Corp. in an environmental case but the oil company secured orders preventing the plaintiffs attorneys from trying to collect.

SAN FRANCISCO - Ecuadoreans suing Chevron Corp. for alleged environmental damage in their country won a minimum $8.6 billion judgment Monday, but for the time being, their attorneys can't take steps to collect the money.
